The story follows the adventures of a young street urchin by the name of Aladdin who dreams of a life better than his own. One day in the marketplace he meets the beautiful Princess Jasmine who has escaped from the confi nes of the castle and her father, the Sultan. They fall in love but almost immediately Aladdin is captured by Razoul, the head of Jafar’s royal guard and thrown into a cave. Luckily for Aladdin he fi nds the magic lamp out of which pops the Genie and his Magic Carpet. They attempt to transform Aladdin into the Prince he believes Jasmine deserves but not if Jafar has anything to do about it!

The score, conceived by legendary Disney composer Alan Menken (The Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast, Enchanted) and lyricists Howard Ashman and Tim Rice won the 1992 Academy Awards for Best Original Score and Best Song (A Whole NewWorld).
