From Kander & Ebb the creators Cabaret and Chicago and based on Peter Coke's play Breath of Spring and the movie of the play, Make Mine Mink, 70, Girls, 70 celebrates a group of senior citizens living on New York's Upper West Side who regain their zest for life by forming a ring of unlikely thieves, wreaking havoc in stores from Sadies' Second Hand Furs to Bloomingdales.
John Kander and Fred Ebb provide a score that is, by turns, sweet and brassy including: Believe, Boom Ditty Boom, Broadway My Street, The Caper, Coffee In a Cardboard Cup, Do We?, Go Visit, Hit It Lorraine, Home, I Can't Do That Anymore, Old Folks See the Light, 70, Girls, 70 Well Laid Plans, Yes, You and I, Love GMS regulars fondly remember “70 Girls 70” presented as “Make Mine Mink” at the Gosford High School in 1987 For this years production GMS stalwart Producer Gary Keys has again formed a formidable production team who have provided GMS with some of its biggest hits in the past three years including sell-out seasons of Cabaret, Shout, 42nd Street and last years highly acclaimed production of Oliver.
Mr. Entertainment, Director – Chris King heads a creative team including Choreographer – Lauren Miller, Musical Director – Simone Williams, Set Designer Daryl Kirkness, and Costume Designer Leslie Normet all talented individuals well equipped to ensure that this production will be overflowing with wonderful sets, dazzling costumes, toe tapping uplifting music and songs, sensational choreography wrapped up in a fast paced musical celebration that leaves no doubt life really does begin at 70.
